Recent mergers & acquisitions combined with other transactional activity in Houston have focused a spotlight on the critical role that total rewards play in the post deal integration process. Since people are at the heart of every deal, companies need to quickly and effectively integrate total rewards policies to retain key talent, which is paramount for the deal to be successful.
Integration of compensation and benefits across the combined organization should be based on careful analysis, due diligence, and planning. There is no standard approach. The approach and timing may differ based on factors such as size, objectives, timing, and expectations of the deal, the distinct cultures of the combining organizations, and the need to integrate with other systems. Whatever approach is taken, the driving factors should be to look for positive synergies, balance competing negative synergies and aim to minimize disruptions. Unsuccessful integration efforts can create subcultures that can potentially derail an otherwise successful merger.
Seasoned total rewards practitioners know that there are many challenges -- but also many opportunities -- in every transaction. Come hear Steven Slutsky and Dwight Blackman of PwC provide tips for creating value in every transaction, and learn about what your colleagues are doing in similar situations.
